Sivi Baktha MD FACS – Biography

Dr. Sivasanker Bakthavachalam (Sivi Baktha)

Dr Sivi Baktha

Dr. Sivi Baktha is a board certified otolaryngologist-head and neck surgeon with additional fellowship training in pediatric otolaryngology. He spent his formative years in Colorado Springs, CO and went on to attend Boston University after receiving the prestigious Trustee Scholarship (4-year full tuition). He received a Bachelor’s of Arts degrees in Biology and Political Philosophy. While an undergraduate, Dr. Baktha received an early admission to Boston University School of Medicine after his sophomore year through the MMEDIC program. During medical school, he was accepted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.

Dr. Baktha then went on to complete his surgical internship at Parkland Memorial Hospital and he completed his otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. He then completed a pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago affiliated with Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Here he obtained very specialized training in advanced pediatric airway surgery under the direction of Dr. Lauren Holinger, a world renowned pediatric airway surgeon.

Following this training, Dr. Baktha moved to Atlanta to join a prominent private practice group in the Atlanta area where he practiced for 13 years.

He is excited to join Cook Children’s ENT in Frisco, Texas and at their new location in Prosper.

Dr. Baktha believes in a team approach to patient care among the treating physician, the family, primary care doctor, and other specialists. He believes that no patient is the same and treatment for a child, whether it’s medical or surgical, requires the parent or guardian(s) having all the information necessary to make an informed decision.

In his free time, Dr. Baktha enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters and their family dog, Hobbes. He always looks forward to their yearly family ski trip!
